Texas with their 9-1 overall record should be feeling very confident. They are. However make no mistake, Kentucky will test Texas to the core.
In the SEC Conference Kentucky has a dismal 1-6 and 4-6 overall. Sounds pitiful on the surface until you look at the losses. They lost to Georgia by one point (12-13) and they beat Ole Miss, at Ole Miss (20-17). However, they did lose to Vanderbilt at home and Florida on the road by 28 points. Yeah, they don’t sound too good, but they are.
The way they played Georgia and Ole Miss means they are capable, they can hang with the big dawgs and are capable of handing Texas an ‘L’ if Texas gets too confident.
Also, Kentucky is ranked 6th and ahead of Texas who is ranked 18th, for their red zone defense of all the teams in the NCAA..
Steve Sarkisian has much respect for Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops. Sarkisian wanted to hire Stoops at Washington. Stoops declined because he did not want to leave his brother Mike who was coaching along side of him.
Texas is taking Kentucky seriously knowing an SEC Championship opportunity is on the line. Plus, it’s time for players to put their polishing touches on their resumes (tape) before the NFL comes calling in a few months.
Quinn Ewers is ready and you can expect him to air it out. Ewers needs more tape of him dropping dimes down field. The entire team is completely behind him as this will be the final game at DKR for some 23 seniors who have fought the fight, ran the race and will hang up their collegiate cleats.
The game is sold out with a 2:30 pm kickoff. Texas throws great parties so, expect a first-class experience you’ll remember for the rest of your life.
Immediately after the game, all attention shifts to next Saturday were the BIGGEST rivalry in the history of Texas take place: Texas vs Texas A&M.
