Texas volleyball thumps TCU, 3-1

AUSTIN, Texas — Despite an early scare, the Texas volleyball team rallied back to take down TCU, 3-1, Wednesday at Gregory Gym. The No. 6  Longhorns won the first set before dropping the second set to even things up. Then Texas turned it on to claim the next two games and the match 25-13, 20-25, 25-17, 25-23 and now stands at 15-4 overall and 10-1 in Big 12 Conference play. Texas outpaced the Horned Frogs in several areas, outhitting TCU, .258 to .115, while out-blocking them, 10-5.

Freshman Sydney Petersen led the Longhorns with 11 digs for her 16th match with double-digit digs this season. Junior Autumn Rounsaville added nine digs, while junior Claire Hahn posted eight. Sophomore Ashley Shook had 23 assists while freshman Jhenna Gabriel had 22 assists. They had six and three digs, respectively. Freshman Logan Eggleston contributed nine kills and four digs. Freshman Brionne Butler recorded eight kills, eight blocks and five digs. The Longhorns won't play again until next week, taking on Kansas State at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 7 back home at Gregory Gym again.
