Texas Volleyball earns No. 1 overall seed in 2013 NCAA Championships

AUSTIN, Texas — The top-ranked Texas Volleyball team will make its 30th NCAA Championships appearance this week when it hosts the first and second rounds this week at Gregory Gym.

Texas (23-2, 16-0 Big 12) earned the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament and was placed in the Lincoln Regional. The Horns will welcome UTSA, Texas A&M and UT’s first-round opponent, Texas State to Gregory Gym on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 5 and 6 as the Longhorns host for the 10th straight season.

UTSA will face Texas A&M on Thursday at 4:30 p.m., and the Longhorns will take on Texas State at 7 p.m. or 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first match. The winners of the two matches will meet on Friday at 7 p.m.

The Longhorns have won their last 25 matches on their home floor.

Fans may purchase general admission all-session tickets online at TexasSports.com, by calling 512-471-3333, or in person at the Bellmont Hall ticket office (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m-4 p.m.). Single day tickets will go on sale Monday, Dec. 2 at 9 a.m. Central based on availability.

The winner of the Austin Sub-Regional will advance to the Lincoln Regional, where it will face the winner of the Durham (Duke) Sub-Regional in the NCAA “Sweet 16”. Regional matches will be played Dec. 13-14.

Texas has been selected to host first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament 24 times and UT is 54-9 all-time in NCAA matches played in Austin. Texas is undefeated in first-round contests at 26-0.
