Texas-UTEP Series History: This marks the fifth meeting between the Longhorns and the Miners. UT holds a 4-0 advantage in the all-time series, including a 3-0 win in Honolulu last year (Aug. 31, 2013).
Texas-New Mexico Series History: This marks the 11th meeting between the Longhorns and the Lobos. UT holds a 7-3 lead in the all-time series. This marks the first meeting between the two schools since Texas posted a 3-0 win in Austin on Nov. 11, 1995.
Texas-Seattle Series History: This marks the first meeting between the Longhorns and the Redhawks.
Texas in Season Openers: The Longhorns own a 33-7 record in season openers in program history, including a 10-3 mark under head coach Jerritt Elliott.
Texas in the Polls: Texas Volleyball is ranked No. 2 in the AVCA Top 25 preseason poll (Aug. 11). This marked the third consecutive year that the Horns have earned a Top Two national ranking in the AVCA preseason poll (UT was No. 1 in 2013 and No. 2 in 2012). Including the AVCA preseason poll, the Longhorns have appeared in the Top 10 for 116 of the last 120 weeks. Texas has been ranked in the AVCA Top 25 for 155 consecutive weeks, dating back to 2004.
Big 12 Conference Favorite: Texas was unanimously selected as the 2014 preseason favorite to win the league volleyball title. The Horns have been chosen at the top of the preseason league poll for the past five seasons and seven times overall (1996, 2008, 2009, 2011-14). The poll was selected by the league's head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own team. UT has claimed the Big 12 Conference title outright for three consecutive seasons (2011-13).
