When college athletics underwent a round of reorganization nearly a decade ago, one of the ripple effects that made a significant impact on the Texas Longhorns was the end of UT’s most intense rivalry when Texas A&M bolted for the Southeastern Conference.

The Longhorns and Aggies will face off again in 2020, when the schools’[s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_level2)]  women’s basketball teams meet in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge, according to a joint statement released by the conferences. The meeting, at UT’s Frank Erwin Center, will be the first between the teams since 2014 since Texas beat A&M, 67-65, in Little Rock, Ark.

The time, date and television for the matchup has not yet been announced.

All 10 teams from the Big 12 and 10 SEC teams will take part in the Challenge. Five schools from each conference will host games.

The first Challenge between the conferences was held in 2014, and expanded in 2016 to the format with 10 teams representing each conference.

UT is 4-2 all-time in the Challenge. Texas leads the all-time series against A&M, 62-23, and has won the last four meetings against A&M.
