Three University of Texas distance runners competed in the 5,000 meter run at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. on Friday night.
Sophomores Sara Sutherland and Marielle Hall each ran in the Olympic Development Elite division. Sutherland clocked a 16:10.51 to finish seventh among the collegians in the race and 17th overall. She was only one second off her personal best in the event. Hall was two spots behind her overall in 19th. She cut 13 seconds off her time from the Texas Relays, finishing in 16:22.83.
Redshirt freshman Jessica Harper ran in section B of the 5,000 meter. It was her second time running the race this season and she was able to cut her time down by seven seconds from her Texas Relays result. Her time of 16:50.90 was good for 17th in the section.
