AUSTIN, Texas — Senior Holly Kern and junior Tiarra Davis each hit a double and drove in three runs and the Longhorns piled up a season-high 14 hits as the University of Texas softball team ran over Blinn College, 19-4, Thursday at Red & Charline McCombs Field.

All four Blinn runs were unearned, and starting Texas pitcher Paige von Sprecken struck out two and allowed just two hits (and two of the runs) over three innings. Kristen Clark and Davis allowed one run each in relief.

In addition to the fireworks by Kern and Davis, left fielder Stephanie Wong had a triple and drove in a run while going 3-for-4 at the plate, catcher/third baseman Randel Leahy was 2-for-2 with a triple and an RBI, and outfielders Bekah Alcozer and Taylor McAllister each drove in a pair of runs.

The UT fall schedule continues at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 22, when the Longhorns host St. Mary’s.
