Cobb earns honors, Texas back at home Tuesday, Wednesday

In his second start as a Texas Longhorn, freshman Coy Cobb proved why coach David Pierce’s confidence in the starting pitcher was warranted.
The Longhorns stand at 6-2 overall after taking three of four from Purdue over the weekend.
After a rough first go-round on the road at Louisiana, Cobb threw seven shutout innings back at home at Disch-Falk Field over the weekend, leading to Cobb being named the Big 12 Conference Co-Newcomer of the Week.
With only four baserunners allowed all game long, Cobb gave up two hits in the first inning before he settled in and made sure this stint would last. Cobb retired 12 consecutive hitters at one point and wound up with two strikeouts as well.
The Longhorns are home for an extended stay this weekend, with Sam Houston State visiting tonight at 6:30 and UTSA at the "Disch" Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Then the LSU Tigers come to town for a three-game series beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m.
