AUSTIN, Texas — The American Football Coaches Association took a vote and ‘all agreed’ that
Robinson becomes the fourth Texas running back to be a unanimous All-American and joins three former Texas running backs named unanimous All-Americans: James Saxton (1961), Earl Campbell (1977), and Ricky Williams (1997, ‘98).
Not only did the American Football Coaches Association name Robinson a unanimous first-team All-American, so did The Associated Press, Football Writers Association of American, the Sporting News, and Walter Camp Football Foundation. All five outlets are recognized by the NCAA.
There have been a total of 23 players named a unanimous All-American in Texas Football history. Robinson is the fourth running back.
Three players are currently in the NFL. Punter Michael Dickson plays for the Seattle Seahawks, safety DeShon Elliott plays for the Detroit Lions, and Colt McKoy plays for the Arizona Cardinals and is their starting quarterback.
Bijan Robinson has not made a decision about entering the NFL draft or staying at Texas for his senior year. The decision seems obvious to most. Go into the NFL and take the money. If he gets hurt next year then he will have left a ton of money on the table.
Robinson comes from a rock solid family and has NFL experienced coaches helping him navigate his decision. Some may think it is an easy decision. We don’t think so.
Whenever we have interviewed Robinson in a post game press conference, or after a practice, there is zero doubt about his love for playing at Texas and for his teammates.
There are three reasons why we think Robinson will stay at Texas and finish his senior year.
