AUSTIN, Texas — After scoring a game-winning goal in overtime for the first time in her career as a Longhorn, Texas sophomore forward Cyera Hintzen has been named the Big 12 Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week.
After UT and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) slugged it out for 90 scoreless minutes Friday, Hintzen lifted the Longhorns to victory by scoring her team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 98th minute in the 1-0 UT victory.
With the victory, Texas completed its non-conference schedule with an unblemished 8-0-0 record for the first time in school history. The Longhorns kick off against a Big 12 opponent for the first time this season at 7 p.m. Friday when Iowa State comes to Austin.
