AUSTIN — Hitting new heights means garnering honors, just as the Texas track and field teams did with their showing at the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

In front of a roaring home crowd numerous Longhorns showed they belonged among the elite as the men’s team took 9th overall and the women placed 10th at the championships held at Mike A. Myers Stadium June 5-8.

Teahna Daniels’ inspired showing earned her three different first team All-America runs with top eight finishes in the 100m, 200m and as part of the 4×100 relay as the senior wound up with six first team honors in her Longhorn career.

Ashtin Zamzow’s school-history-setting performance also earned her honors as she became the first Texas heptathlete to capture the national title in program history. Her point total of 6,222 was the ninth-highest by a collegian and it marked the second time in track & field history that an athlete won the heptathlon on their home track.
