AUSTIN, Texas — Senior forward Cyera Hintzen scored in the 88th minute to lift the Texas soccer team to a 1-0 win over TCU at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
The victory was the third in as many Big 12 games for the Longhorns, who improved their season record to 8-4-0. TCU fell to 7-4-1 overall, and 1-1-1 in Big 12 games. UT is [s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_level2)]3-0 in Big 12 games for just the sixth time in program history.
TCU outshot Texas, 18-14, including a 14-7 edge in the second half, but the Longhorns held a 7-3 edge in shots on goal.
UT now has recorded four straight shutouts, extending its streak without allowing a goal to 360 minutes. Should the Longhorns shut out West Virginia, they will break the current program record for the longest stretch without surrendering a goal, which was the 418:40 scoreless streak (for opponents) set in 2001. UT goalkeeper Nicole Curry tied the school for the most consecutive shutouts, equaling the mark set in 2008 by Dianna Pfenninger.
Hintzen’s goal, which she scored from about 16 yards out off an assist by junior forward Cydney Billups, was her fourth of the season and her 12 game-winner, the fourth-highest total in program history.
The Longhorns return to the field at 1 p.m. Sunday when they host West Virginia in a game that can be seen on the Longhorn Network.
