Omaha Here We Come! Texas Volleyball punches ticket to NCAA Final Four
AUSTIN, Texas - No. 1 Texas Volleyball changed their stars in four sets after beating Ohio State 3-1 to go on to the NCAA Championship Final Four in Omaha, NE and will play No. 2 San Diego on Dec. 15 (Thu) at 6 p.m. CT and will be aired on ESPN.
How fitting that after a battle that gave way to Ohio State giving Texas a run for their money that Logan Eggleston would be called upon to score the winning point in the forth set. This was Eggleston's last match at Gregory Gym as she finishes her career as the NCAA Regional All-Time Most Outstanding Player.
Eggleston had 20 kills, three blocks, nine digs, a hitting percentage of .341. and scored 23.5 points.
Texas at the net was unstoppable. We asked Asjia O'Neal during the postgame press conference if we could change her name to Asjia O'Block-Neal for her absolutely defiance at the net with a season high eight blocks along with seven kills and two digs. O'Neal commented that coach Elliott said to her at the beginning of the season that she really needed to get her blocking together. O'Neal listened and responded.
Madisen Skinner gave Ohio State serious problems with 13 kills. In all, Texas had 16.5 blocks, 51 kills, 49 digs, and a hitting percentage of .258.
The win marks the 10th time in 15 years that Texas has advanced to the Final Four.
