Preview: Texas Longhorns Volleyball Opens at Home
After suffering their first loss of the season against a tough Wisconsin (No. 8) team, the Texas Longhorns returned to form, sweeping High Point on Sunday. Now they get to bring it back home to Gregory Gym where they will face off against Texas State (4-3) on Thursday followed by Kentucky (no. 16) on Friday.
Freshman Brionne Butler looks to continue with the momentum she built in the first 4 games of the season. Buttler smashed 20 kills and 10 blocks over the weekend, earning her spot on the HotelRED All-Tournament Team.
Coach Jerritt Elliott and senior Morgan Johnson are happy to be back home in front of a friendly crowd...

While the Longhorns will open against Texas State they also have their eyes set on a tough match up against Kentucky this Friday. Kentucky will be the 4th ranked opponent the Longhorns have faced this season.
Despite losing to Wisconsin, the Longhorns sport a nice record against ranked opponents over the last 12 seasons, with a .686 winning percentage (107-49).

Junior Micaya White has recorded double-digit kills while freshman libero Sydney Petersen has double-digit digs in all four matches this season. The hot start earned White a spot on the All-Tournament teams while being named ESPNW Player of the Week.
As for Petersen, she leads Texas at an impressive 3.81 digs/set per game. Should Petersen continue with this streak she would rank eighth on the all-time digs/set during a single season.
