Ricky Williams on Johnny Manziel

Ricky Williams has never been one for diplomacy and has always been upfront and candid about the way he feels.

So, when the subject of Johnny Manziel came up, the former Heisman trophy winner and Texas star running back didn’t shy away from stating his opinion.
“You know once you win the Heisman trophy, there’s going to be more attention on you. To the media I would say, if the media did their research on who this kid was, nobody would be surprised.”
Though this is obviously a slight on Manziel and his post-Cotton Bowl antics, it can also be taken as a critique on the way the national media has handled this ongoing soap opera.
Williams won the Heisman in 1998, the same year he broke Tony Dorsett’s all-time rushing record. Williams and Earl Campbell are the only Longhorns to have received the Heisman Trophy.
