JEFFCOAT, a combination of size, strength and football DNA (his father is former Dallas Cowboys standout defensive lineman Jim Jeffcoat), needs to stay healthy to make a  deep impact.[s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_level2)]

His promising junior year was cut short by a right pectoral muscle rupture during the Texas-Oklahoma game. Despite the injury, Jeffcoat still managed to come in second on the team in tackles for loss and sacks. Jeffcoat played in eight games as a freshman and started 12 as a sophomore, missing only one contest due to injury.

Jeffcoat is known for his quickness, tenacity and flexibility — capabilities that have NFL scouts salivating about his potential at the next level. But despite posting at least one sack in 10 of his last 13 games, with 12 total sacks during that span, Jeffcoat hasn’t had the ablility to take over games at the college level.

If past performance is any indication, Jeffcoat will be a force to be reckoned with upon his return. The key for the Longhorns is for Jeffcoat to sustain his impact through the entire season and act as a leader for Texas’ younger players.
