Taylor Tabbed Phillips 66 Big 12 Rookie of the Week

Isaiah+Taylor+Texas+v+Baylor+pwWd99NRShAlThe Big 12 Conference announced Monday the selection of University of Texas freshman point guard Isaiah Taylor as the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Rookie of the Week. The voting was conducted by a panel of media covering Big 12 men’s basketball.

Taylor earned his first career Big 12 weekly award after recording a game-high 23 points in Saturday’s 81-69 home victory against No. 6/7 Kansas. He converted 7-of-14 field goals, including 1-of-2 from three-point range, and 8-of-8 free throws while adding one rebound and one steal in 36 minutes during the win.

Taylor has recorded back-to-back 20-point performances in UT’s last two games, posting a career-high 27 points in the win at No. 24/23 Baylor (Jan. 25). On the season, he leads the team in assists (3.5 apg) and ranks second in scoring (12.2 ppg), steals (22) and minutes (29.1 mpg) while reaching double figures in scoring 16 times.

No. 25/nr Texas (17-4, 6-2 Big 12) returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 4, when it travels to face TCU. Tip is set for 7 p.m. Central at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum, and the contest will be televised regionally the Big 12 TV Network.
