Texas Football Bijan Robinson named unanimous Preseason Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year

AUSTIN, Texas - With less than 60 days until the start of the 2022 Texas Longhorns football season against Louisiana Monroe, the Big 12 announced Bijan Robinson was the 2022 Big 12 Football Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. His teammate wide receiver Xavier Worthy was named to the Offensive Team and linebacker DeMarvion Overshown to the Big 12 Defensive Team.

Robinson (@Bijan5Robinson), a third-year running back, was selected unanimously.

The Tucson, Arizona native has an amazing story produced by Fozzy Whittaker on ESPN College Football and told by Bijan's mom, grandmother, and grandfather. Robinson had six 100+ yard games last season with his best against TCU where he carried the ball 35 times and rushed for 216 years.



Xavier Worthy was named to the Preseason Big 12 Offensive Team. Last season, Worthy was the 2021 Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year after receiving 62 passes for 981 yards and 12 touchdowns. Worthy had four 100-yard receiving games highlighted by his performance against Oklahoma in the Red River Showdown where he had 261-yards receiving caught nine passes and scored two touchdowns.

Demarvion Overshown, a fifth-year linebacker, was named to the Preseason Big 12 Defensive Team. Overshown has started in 22 of the 38 games he has played. Last season in 10 games, Overshown lead the team with 74 tackles (38 solo), had 36 assists, two sacks, two fumble recoveries, two pass breakups and a blocked kick. The highlight of last season was against Oklahoma in the Red River Showdown where he had eight tackles (five solo), a sack, fumble recovery and a blocked punt that gave Texas a chance to score a touchdown.
