Thornhill tossed a complete game in an 8-1 win as the Longhorns completed a series sweep of the Sooners. The senior needed just 93 pitches while striking out a season-high six and allowing just one run on five hits. Thornhill worked five 1-2-3 innings and allowed just one runner past second base in the game.

The lone run allowed by Thornhill, which came in the third inning, snapped a streak of 23 1/3 consecutive scoreless innings tossed by the Cedar Park native.

It was the third career complete game for Thornhill, who improved to 6-0 with a Big 12 best 0.78 ERA. In his past two starts, Thornhill has logged 17 innings and allowed just one run on seven hits. On the season, Thornhill has allowed one run or less in six of his seven starts. Opponents are hitting just .168 against him this year, also best in the Big 12. It is the first time in Thornhill’s career he has earned weekly honors from the Big 12.
