Texas Men’s Golf: Hossler, USA defeat Europe at Palmer Cup

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – Texas Men's Golf sophomore Beau Hossler and Team USA defeated Europe, 18-12 at the 2015 Palmer Cup at Rich Harvest Farms on Sunday. The Americans lead the all-time series, 10-8-1.

In the first round, Hossler teamed up with Stanford's Maverick McNealy and fell to Europe's Angles and Meronk, 3-and-2. Hossler and McNealy came back to defeat Angles and Rahm in the four-ball match, 2-and-1. (Continue reading below...)

(...Continued from above.) In third round singles, Hossler defeated Matthias Schwab, 1-up, after making four birdies to only one bogey.

In the final round, Hossler wrapped up the competition with a 2-and-1 win over Europe's Pep Angles. Angles took a 1-up lead and maintained it until Hossler won holes 12 and 13. Angles won hole 14 to make the score all square, but won holes 15 and 16 and held through 18 for the win.

Hossler will return to the course on Monday, June 15 to compete in the 2015 U.S. Open at Chambers Bay. He will tee off at 3:11 CT with Brad Elder and Jamie Lovemark.
