Texas Softball’s Stephanie Ceo Selected as Big 12 Player of the Week

AUSTIN, Texas – An outstanding weekend at the plate that helped power Texas (35-14, 10-5 Big 12 Conference) to a league road sweep of Oklahoma State has led to junior second baseman Stephanie Ceo's first career Big 12 Conference Player of the Week accolade.
With the selection, the Meadow Vista, Calif., product joins junior center fielder Lindsey Stephens (Big 12 Player of the Week - February 10 and March 31) and freshman pitcher Erica Wright (Big 12 Pitcher of the Week – March 31) as Longhorns honored by the league thus far in 2015.
Ceo batted .500 (4-for-8) during the sweep of OSU, hitting safely in all three games of the series with three runs scored, two stolen bases, two HR's, including her first career grand slam, and a team-leading six RBI. She got her weekend off to a rousing start during Friday's series opener, going 2-for-2 at the dish with a run, a walk, a steal, her first collegiate grand slam and a career-high-tying four RBI. She continued her solid production into Saturday's match-up, homering for the second consecutive day on a solo shot to right as part of a 1-for-2, run scored, sacrifice fly, two-RBI effort. Ceo is currently batting .321 overall for the season with 28 runs scored, nine extra-base hits, including five big flies, eight steals and 22 RBIs.
Texas returns to action on Wed., May 6, by traveling to Waco, Texas, to face No. 16/14 Baylor at Getterman Stadium in a 7 p.m. CT contest live on ESPN2.
