The UT Tower will be drenched in burnt orange lighting on Thursday, May 10 in recognition of the University of Texas women's tennis team's recent victory at the Big 12 Championship.
Per UT tradition, the campus landmark is bathed in burnt orange lighting from top-to-bottom when a University of Texas athletics team wins a conference championship.
Texas defeated host Texas A&M by a 4-2 count (April 29) in the finals of the 2012 Big 12 Championship in College Station. It marked UT's eight Big 12 women's tennis championship and the first for seventh-year head coach Patty Fendick-McCain.
UT sophomore Elizabeth Begley was selected as the Big 12 Championship's Most Outstanding Performer after going 3-0 in singles play without dropping a set. Begley also helped UT to victories over Oklahoma State in the quarterfinals and Texas Tech in the semifinals.
