What Steve Sarkisian looks for in a QB

AUSTIN, Texas - We sat down with coach Sarkisian this morning after Texas’ second spring practice and asked him the same great question he asked Hall of Fame coach Bill Walsh during breakfast in 2007.

Sarkisian called it, “Best breakfast I ever had!”

A couple days ago on his twitter feed, Sarkisian responded to senior NFL reporter Albert Breer's post reminiscing about The Next Great QB article where Breer quoted Sarkisian. Breer shared an excerpt detailing Sarkisian's encounter with Bill Walsh and what he said.

Pete Carroll and Sarkisian were on a recruiting trip and Carroll arranged the breakfast with Hall of Fame coach Bill Walsh.

Quoted from The Next Great QB, “Sarkisian asked about the one trait Walsh would look for in a quarterback.” This was back in 2007.   Fast forward 14 years.

We asked Sarkisian the same question, ”What does coach Sarkisian look for in a quarterback?”

We dug a little deeper and asked, “Has there been anyone who has met your criteria?”

Here is coach Sarkisian’s response.

I like exploring the why's and have three objectives. First is to give value to those who would spend time with our content. Second is to be respectful of others and for the opportunity to tell a positive story about all of the Texas Longhorns teams, players, and coaches regardless of their record. Lastly, to put wind in the sails of others using the Horns Illustrated platform. Life is GOOD!
